Come sit, chat, snack, and of course, stitch with fellow friends and knitters at our bi-weekly knit night.  Refreshments will be served.  Store will stay open for late-evening shoppers.

Stitch & Bitch is a social night, so if you need to bring in a specific project for help, call us to schedule a separate time for assistance.  If you run into a little snag on your project while you're at S&B, you'll be surrounded by many friendly knitters glad to offer their advice.

Brand New Beginners’ Knitting

 

$20 per 1 ½ hour class

If you’re new to knitting, this is the class for you! Learn to cast on and knit in your first class. Come back for a second or third class when you’re ready to learn to purl, increase, or decrease (Brand new beginners can also try our Begin­ner/Advanced Beginner classes listed below, also great for newbies!).

Beginner/Advanced Beginner Group Knitting Classes

$20 per 1 ½ hour class

Learn to knit or add to your basic skills in our flexible group classes.  Beginners will learn to cast on and knit a scarf.  Advanced Beginners can expand their skills by picking a project that will add new skills to their knitting repertoire.  Come in well before your first class to choose your project & materials, and then learn at your own pace by choosing which class times and dates you wish to attend.

Those new to the hook will learn the basics of crochet on a sampler scarf using many crochet stitches!  Advanced beginners can learn other techniques and have assistance on new projects at this group class.

Fisherman’s Rib Scarf

Learn an easy technique to get a lacy look on scarves and shawls with the fisherman’s rib

stitch. The stitch is a variation of ribbing and creates and open, lacy and reversible fabric.

It also highlights the beauty of handpainted yarns!

Required materials: Free in-house pattern, 300-400 yards worsted weight yarn (the Atacama alpaca

is especially beautiful for this project), size 8-9 needles. No homework.

My 1st Sweater

Knitters must know how to cast

on, knit and purl

 

$40 plus materials

 

Tired of knitting scarves? Whant to try your hand at a sweater but are afraid to do it on your own? This this is the class for you! In this class, you’ll learn to knit a beginner sweater from the neck down. You have the choice of a cardigan or pullover style. You may knit it for a child, or maybe one for yourself! Techniques learned will include:

increasing, decreasing, knitting in the round on circular and double pointed needles, picking up stitches, and you’ll also do some basic finishing. Classes will be 4 weeks apart to allow time to get the knitting done for the second class.

Required materials: Knitting Pure & Simple neck down sweater pattern in adult or child size, appropriate yarn and needles called for in the pattern (or to get gauge), stitch markers, stitch holders, and tapestry needle. No homework prior to part I.

Learn the continental method of knitting, holding the yarn with your left hand.  Many find this style of knitting to be smoother and faster.  Give it a try!

Advanced Beginner Skill level

Get ready for the upcoming spring weather with a new skill just perfect for those warmer temps - Lace knitting! Join us to learn a simple lace pattern and make yourself a lacy vest or beach cover-up. In this class you’ll learn several increases and decreases, along with picking up stitches, knitted i-cords, and the three-needle bind-off technique. The pattern is generously sized from 32” to 52” finished bust/chest circumference.

Required materials: Knitability Madiera Aperitif Lace Vest Pattern, Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece yarn (see pattern for yardage requirements) 24” size 7 circular needle (or size necessary to obtain gauge), one set double-point needles in necessary size, tapestry needle, stitch markers.

Socknitters Group!

Knitting in the round on double-pointed needles, decreasing, & basic pattern reading.

Socknitters unite!  This is our all-inclusive sock class for sock-knitting techniques, from simple to advanced.  Learn the basics of sock construction, or move on to more advanced techniques such as two-circular construction, toe-up socks, different types of heels, and more.  Check with Mercedes before class to get any homework or materials required for your desired sock project, then come as often as you need assistance.

Zig-Zag Bag

Advanced Beginner Skill Level

 

$40 plus materials

 

Learn to add color to your work in this fun 2-part class. The project is a generously sized felted tote bag, great for carrying all of your knitting projects. Along with learning intarsia, you’ll learn: i-cord bind off, basic shaping, picking up stitches and seaming. This is a great way to learn intarsia as the felting is very forgiving!

Materials required: Zig-Zag Bag pattern by Christine Furber, 4 skeins Lambs Pride worsted, 3 skeins Noro Kureyon, one US 10.5 24” circular, on set US 10.5 double point needles, stitch markers,

stitch holders, tapestry needle. No homework prior to part I.

Embellish It!

Advanced Beginner/Intermediate

 

$40 plus materials

 

Learn to knit flowers, leaves, vines and more in this fun class. You will learn to knit fun pieces to jazz us otherwise plain knitting. First you’ll knit a purse and felt it (bag knitting will not be taught in class), then you’ll spend time planning the embellished design of the

bag and knit flowers, vines, leaves, or whatever strikes your fancy from Niki Epstein’s book Knitted Embellishments (book purchase required). The class will meet again with all your finished pieces and you’ll learn how to expertly appliqué the pieces to your bag.

Required materials: Designs by Shelly “Mega” & “Phat” Pink Lady Bags, approx 550 yds worsted weight felting yarn (Cascade 220 or Lambs Pride Worsted is recommended), One US 11 24” circular needle, one set US 11 double point needles, sewing needles, thread, stitch markers, scissors,

buttons (optional). No homework prior to part I.

Embroider Knits

 

Beginner/Advanced Beginner

 

$20 plus materials

 

Learn new skills to try a pattern you’ve been eyeing, or jazz up that plain old cardigan and give it new life! In this class, you’ll bring a knitted swatch and learn to embroider using stitches such as: lazy daisy, blanket, split, chain, and stem, along with French knots.

Materials required: Several colors of yarn to embroider with (preferably smooth, multi-strand yarn suitable for dividing), tapestry needles.

 

 

 

Homework Required Prior to class:

One knitted 8x8 swatch in stockinette with a 1/2 to 1” border

of garter stitch.

Triangle Trio

 

Beginner, intermediate, and

advanced skill levels will be

taught

 

$20 plus materials

 

An easy way to create the most from beautiful yarns; triangle scarves and shawls make a great “cast on and go” project. Begin with a few stitches and end when you reach the size you like (or when you run out of yarn). Class is split into three levels with different

difficulty levels of shawl patterns. Beginners will learn basic increasing, intermediates will learn and easy lace pattern, and advanced knitters will work on the “smarter than the average triangle shawl” pattern which is mildly spicy! Make your triangle a scarf or a shawl...it’s your choice!

 

Materials required: Free in-house pattern, yarn of your choice (yardage will vary depending on how

large or small you want your project to be), needles to match yarn.

Registration for classes is required 48 hours in advance.

Registration for Tuesday classes is required by closing on the preceding Saturday.  Class size is limited.  Payment is required at registration.

We can register you over the phone with a credit card.

 

Cancellations by students will not be refunded.

 Cancellations by the instructor will be fully refunded, or you may use your prepayment to register for a later class date.

Classes may be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment.  Minimum class size is 3 students.

 

*For Two-part classes, it is the students’ responsibility to be at both meetings of class.

Absences are not refundable, as for single classes.

You may, with advanced notice, arrange to meet for a private “make-up” lesson with an instructor,

 re-scheduling fees will apply.
